Regent Seven Seas Review for April 2024 Best Cruise Lines

regent cruise reviews

When I see reviews that complain I usually try to figure out is this real or an attitude (no facts provided). I can usually find other reviews, comments by the one who is not pleased and that tells me alot about the person. I find reading the blog type posts are much better to get a feel of a ship, especially recent ones. The one and done post usually are so different than my experience on the same ship. In the beginning of my "cruise career", I was diligent about posting a detailed review on Cruise Critic.

The cabins

Mariner may be a mid-size ship, but it manages to keep guests engaged through a variety of offerings. Dance classes, bowling, solo travelers’ meet ups, bingo, casino games, bowling, and trivia are organized all through the day. There are two boutiques on board if you want to shop duty-free or get a couple of essentials.

The Culinary Arts Kitchen

Its eight restaurants are some of the best at sea and its onboard Culinary Arts Kitchen is a state-of-the-art teaching center (at an extra fee) ideal for food-lovers eager to learn how to create dishes inspired by the global destinations Regent visits. Regent lays claim to be the most inclusive experience among the major luxury cruise lines. Everything else -- including flights, shore excursions, beverages and onboard gratuities -- is included in the price, so there are no unexpected hidden extras that might give you palpitations at the end of the trip. La Veranda is the ship’s main buffet restaurant for breakfast and lunch; during our sailing, we enjoyed sushi, lobster, paella, salads, and a very delicious cronut during casual meals here. In the evening, La Veranda becomes Sette Mari at La Veranda, a table-service restaurant serving Italian food. If you want a classic cheeseburger, lobster nachos, or a Korean fried chicken sandwich — or even just a milkshake by the pool — the Pool Grill has you covered with relaxed al fresco eats.

Fellow Passengers

All restaurants will be able to accommodate your allergies—just talk to the maitre’d or the chef. Order room service; you can get anything from Compass Rose or pick from the in-room dining menu. One caveat is the stack of papers you accumulate over the course of the cruise—this might be avoidable. Every evening, you get menus from the restaurants in your room, along with the list of activities happening the next day, and other letters of information and correspondence. The ship's slower pace means you can linger over a meal or a conversation by the pool and you won't feel like you're missing out on a signature activity.

Flight segments within the U.S. may be coach, but international segments will be business class. If you want to designate your airline or routing, there's an additional fee. Since we are leaving next week for our first Splendor cruise, I thought I’d look at reviews. We have sailed many days on Regent (gold now but soon to be platinum) and always had a lovely time. The reviews lately have been just terrible -  in marked contrast to the live threads on this forum.

Seven Seas Voyager Inclusions

Be aware that tips for bartenders, poolside servers, and professional services provided in the spa or elsewhere are not included in the daily suggested gratuity and may be charged automatically at the time of service. No duty of care to ensure vehicles used for excursions were actually roadworthy. Parked the ship in a coal merchant for Christmas Eve and Day. 6 days in port, but sailing early evening meant we had a lot of sea time.

This is so far from an luxury…

Crew members are polite, proactive and pleasant; minimal announcements and a lack of queues enhance the feeling of refinement. With the ship's small passenger numbers and spacious public areas, you never feel crowded. You rarely have to stand in line or be frustrated with the wait for a drink.

The next morning, someone from the room service department called to let me know my order was on the way and to apologize that it was coming 15 minutes early — something I didn't mind at all. Between shopping for ingredients, prepping everything, doing the actual cooking and then washing all the dishes afterward, I find it frustrating, time-consuming and more hassle than it's worth. The atrium area sparkles with a sweeping staircase, marble floors and an overhead chandelier designed to resemble a tangle of diamond tennis bracelets. Here's what I loved about this sparkling new ship — and what I didn't.

The ship’s top-tier suites also offer these upgraded amenities, plus the services of a personal butler. The Splendor features 373 all-balcony suites ranging from 307 to 4,443 square feet. And, as Regent proudly proclaims, every luxury is included, from business-class round-trip international airline tickets to shore excursions, specialty restaurants, gratuities, laundry, all onboard alcohol, Wi-Fi, and more. In fact, it is pretty hard to spend a dime on a Regent cruise.

I must admit that I am partial to a cruise with lots of long, lazy sea days, where there is little more to do than read, needlepoint, contemplate the ocean, and get to know my fellow travelers.
